The Zambian government has reiterated the need for the country to quicken its steps toward embracing technology and innovations citing  Blockchain Technology as one which has great potential to trigger financial inclusion globally.

Officiating at a two-day Blockchain Summit in Lusaka,Zambia's Secretary to  Cabinet Patrick Kangwa says the Blockchain Technology Summit remains crucial for Zambia as Blockchain global market is estimated to  generate US$20 Billion of revenue by 2024.

"Blockchain Technology, an advanced database mechanism that allows transparent information sharing within a business network."

Mr Kangwa notes that Blockchain Technology is the second artificial intelligence and Machine  learning with the most effective Technology which can be utilized by the private sector.

He adds that Blockchain is set to effects all businesses that manages variety of customer data by  shifting the data to Decentralize Data  Storage.

The Secretary to Cabinet said this in a speech read on his behalf by  cabinet office permanent secretary for special duties Patrick Mucheleka.

ZAMBIA LISTED AMONG 34 COUNTRIES WORLDWIDE THAT EXPERIENCED DIGITAL AUTHORITATIVE RULE

  By Alfonso Kasongo  The shutdown of internet to block access to social media during the 2021 general election has earned Zambia a slot among 34 countries worldwide that experienced digital authoritative rule last year. According to a research conducted by Keep It On ,182 internet shutdowns from 34 countries were last year recorded and are documented. Sadly 19 of the 34 countries are African countries, an indication of the return of the digital authoritatism. The report  discloses that the Zambian authorities shutdown the Internet during the the tight 2021 general election to block access to social media platforms which  include among others WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.   The report however ,suggests that the country experienced digital authoritative rule which undermined the democracy of the country.    It further notes with pleasure that the shut down was fought swiftly by Chapter One Foundation through the court of law and that the High  Court ruling remains a precede
